Linda has worked as an Occupational Therapist for over twenty-five years. She has focused her career primarily in the area of mental health, initially in the public health care system, and then in the private practice area where she provided case management, disability management and accommodated return to work. Linda applies a trauma-informed lens in her provision of service to individuals experiencing/recovering from anxiety, depression, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, addictions, chronic pain and post-traumatic stress.
As an Occupational Therapist Linda takes a trauma-sensitive, biopsychosocial approach with a strong foundation in the medical model but also in the alternative and integrative healing realms. Research and training in the area of early childhood development and the lifelong impacts of the early years is her passion. Prior to becoming an Occupational Therapist Linda practiced as a Registered Massage Therapist. In 2010 Linda completed a ten day silent meditation retreat. In 2012, she completed her Hatha Yoga Teacher Training after finding yoga to be a perfect complement to her existing life and Occupational Therapy approach. She has been teaching yoga at Taiga Yoga in Yellowknife for the past five years with a special interest in yoga nidra, a guided meditation technique. In August 2017, Linda completed her Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies with the Trauma Centre at the Justice Resource Institute located in Brookline, Massachusetts.
